Need help filling out financial aid paper work? Stop by CaféCollege, we offer financial aid guidance.
The idea of cafécollege came from Mayor Julián Castro, who wanted a central place where anyone in San Antonio, Texas could get information, college admission assistance, and financial aid application assistance.
The goal is to create a more educated workforce for our city by increasing the college graduation rate for San Antonio, TX from 23% to 27% by 2014. The San Antonio Education Partnership was selected as operator and manager of the city’s college access and opportunity center, cafécollege.
For more than 20 years, the Education Partnership has successfully convened leaders from all sectors of the community (City of San Antonio’s Mayor and Council, Bexar County’s Judge and Commissioners, Presidents of local colleges and universities, Chambers of Commerce, and Superintendents of major school districts) to support the college dreams of San Antonio’s youth.
The efforts of the Education Partnership have been recognized locally and on a national level for assisting students in gaining access to postsecondary education with a focus on first-generation, underrepresented and low-income students and financial aid guidance.
With cafécollege, the City of San Antonio recognized the Education Partnership’s capacity, knowledge, experience, and extensive network of supporting organizations to offer services in a central facility dedicated to increasing the educational attainment of the San Antonio community. Parents, advisors, educators, and students are all working together toward the common goal of higher education. Together, the City of San Antonio, the Education Partnership, and the community will produce San Antonio’s future leaders.
Cafécollege offers resources and services to the San Antonio community, serving as the catalyst to close the college graduation gap for San Antonio by 2014. It is a one-stop clearinghouse of information, resources, and experts offering free career guidance services to San Antonians preparing for, applying to, and enrolling in a higher education institution of their choice and completing their college plans. The target audiences for career guidance services are: middle school and high school students and their parents, transfer students, students who stopped attending college and wish to return, and adults who want to go to college for the first time.
